Windows and Doors

Over the last couple of weeks the oak doors and windows have been installed at the Byre. Rother Valley Joinery have been carefully fitting the various pieces and the building has just been made watertight – another milestone for the project!

Now that the envelope is nearly complete, you can begin to see how the building will look when finished. Having the glazing installed, you can also get a sense of what the temperature and climate will be like inside. With the large screen of windows [facing roughly South East] the space is naturally heated from the sun. The Pilkington K glass also keeps heat in, so helping to make the space thermally efficient.

The quality of the oak joinery is fantastic and gives a warm glow to the interior and exterior. We have also started to fit 150mm of floor insulation which has began to transform the interior space. The height of the window and doors sills are beginning to make sense now and we are starting to get a much better sense of the views out of the building.
