In many places across the UK, turning on of the Christmas lights is a big event that takes weeks of organising and preparation. In December, after months of digging, conduit laying and cable threading, the lights were turned on and power delivered to our project. Whilst the results weren’t very bright and glitzy, the impact has been huge. Seeing the first building lit-up was a huge milestone in the construction. The electrical connection also meant that the photovoltaic panels flickered into action. Despite the low December sun, the solar array is already producing energy to be used in the building and to sell back to the grid. It will be interesting to see what the net energy use is over a calendar year. So, we are connected just in time for the New Year!
